First Communion

One of the most precious gifts Jesus Christ gives to us is Himself.  One of the important ways we receive Christ is in partaking of Holy Communion—“the Body of Christ, given for you, the Blood of Christ, shed for you”.

To help us better understand how we prepare for Holy Communion, we’re offering a class specifically designed for 5th grade and higher and at least one parent to come and learn about the Sacrament of Holy Communion (Older children or friends who may not have received any instruction are welcome to attend as well). In order to understand Holy Communion, it’s important to learn about the Jewish Passover, a tradition still celebrated among practicing Jews today.

First Communion Instruction time will be held at our Ministry Center Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 9:30 – noon.

We’ll also have opportunity to bake fresh unleavened bread just like that served during the first Passover meal. Our time together will be memorable and will include some pizza at the end.

Our First Communion Instruction will be as follows:

  • Gathering: Saturday, March 10, 2018  9:30 – 12:00 am at Ministry Center
  • What to Bring? Bring a shawl or bathrobe and slippers for Saturday.  (This is for an activity)
  • First Communion Celebration Sunday, March 11 at 8:30am OR 10:00 am
  • What to Wear? Most students will dress up a bit for this special occasion but there are no “dress requirements”

Please let us know if you will be attending this class as we have supplies and the pizza lunch to buy.

The celebration of Holy Communion compliments our Baptism into the Body of Christ and marks an important step in understanding our faith relationship with Jesus Christ.  As such, we encourage you to make special note of the Communion Celebration for your child by inviting godparents, grandparents or others to participate in this time when he will receive the sacrament for the first time.

Contact Gretchen Havlicek if you have any questions or to let us know you have a child who would like to participate Gretchen@faithpointlc.org
