April – Christian Fiction

The Meeting Place by Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn

I have been hesitant to include a book that is part of a series, but this book stands alone well if you choose not to continue reading in the series. Rita Vollmer recommended it for our book club. I am delighted to bring forth a book to our book club that is by such a famous duo of Christian Fiction authors.  I have read several books by these authors. This book is the first in a series of five books by Oke and Bunn set in Canada during a historical period that I am not well acquainted. During the 1700’s in Acadia (includes parts of the modern-day provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick), the French and British settlers were not mixing well. One day in a meadow, two women begin a friendship. Although Catherine is British, and Louisa is French, the women become as close as sisters. But when war breaks out, their friendship and their faith lead to a sacrifice greater than they could ever predict.

As a book that has been out for several years.  This is available in multiple formats in libraries, used booksellers.  Please reach out if you need help locating a copy.

FaithPoint Women’s Ministry began the Book Club during the pandemic in the summer of 2020 as a way for us to stay connected to one another.  We have continued the book club and read 10 Christian books a year, alternating between Fiction, Biography and Christian Living books.  Women join in whenever they have availability or the desire to read the selected book.
