Proverbs 27:1\u00a0says,\u00a0\u201cDo not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.\u201d\u00a0When tragedy strikes, I sometimes whisper to myself, \u201cThis too will pass.\u201d I haven\u2019t always said that. Through the years, life has taught me that, when hard times come, God provides a new way forward. This \u201cnew way\u201d often takes longer than we would like and sometimes looks much different than we anticipate. Distance athletes sometimes refer to hard times as \u201chitting the wall,\u201d which means, \u201cI\u2019ve got nothing left in the tank,\u201d or \u201cI\u2019ve reached my limit and can\u2019t go on.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of us go through hard times \u2026 and some go through a lot more difficulty than others. It\u2019s not a matter of \u201cif\u201d, it\u2019s a matter of \u201cwhen.\u201d It can be a time when pat answers about life and faith just don\u2019t cut it. Tough times can really challenge our faith, challenge everything we believe and shake us to the core.<\/p>\n

Thankfully the Bible is not silent about tough times; in fact, it is brutally honest while offering profound lessons on how to cope and overcome the worst of tragedies.
