Mother Teresa said, “There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more who are dying for a little love.” A little love can go a long way. And the mothers I know provide a big chunk of the love children receive today.
I couldn’t wait to hold all three of our kids right after they were born … but only after my wife got to hold them first (After all, she did most the work). To love is to hurt, to sacrifice, to give. Jesus never tells us to love because it is easy or safe. He tells us to love because he first loved us with a love that cost him everything.
True love is about offering what is true, good and noble, without the power to control the outcome. It’s about faithfulness without guarantees. Presence without knowing the result.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and we’ll weave together two themes. First, we’ll honor and pay tribute to the moms in our lives. Second, I’ll share some advice from mom and what I’ve learned from being a pastor.
Join us this Sunday in worship at 8:30 and 10am. Live Streaming available at 10am.
