For many people, prayer feels intimidating. Am I doing it right? Am I saying the right words? Am I praying enough? Sometimes prayer can feel more like a religious duty than a conversation with God. But what if we’ve misunderstood prayer altogether?
When the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray, He doesn’t begin with techniques or formulas. He begins with a relationship.
“Father…”
That single word changes everything.
Prayer is not about convincing God to care about us. It is not a way of earning His attention or proving our spiritual maturity. Prayer is the response of God’s children who already know they are loved.
In Luke 11, Jesus teaches us that prayer reveals our dependence upon God. It is an act of trust that acknowledges we cannot carry life’s burdens on our own. We come to Him not because we have everything figured out, but because we know we need Him.
And in the midst of his teaching, Jesus gives us a remarkable promise: the Father delights to give good gifts to His children. Jesus teaches us that faith is not mechanical…It is relational.
Because of Jesus, we are free to approach God not as strangers trying to gain an audience, but as beloved children speaking with their Father. Summer Service times begin this week at 9:00 AM! Live Streaming available.
