Have you ever looked at the world and wondered, “Why doesn’t God do something?”

When we see injustice, violence, and evil around us in the world—or even close to home—we naturally long for God to act. We want wrongs made right. We want evil removed. We want justice now. Jesus’ disciples wondered the same thing.

This Sunday we continue our series, Kingdom Stories, with the Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds. Jesus paints a picture of a field where wheat and weeds grow together. When the servants ask if they should pull up the weeds immediately, the master’s answer is surprising:

“No… let both grow together until the harvest.”

At first, that response could seem confusing. Why would God allow good and evil people to exist side by side?

Jesus reminds us that evil is real—but it does not surprise God. More importantly, God’s apparent delay is not weakness or indifference. It is mercy as God patiently continues to call people…desiring that none should perish but instead that all will come to know His saving grace. His patience is an expression of His love, giving opportunity for hearts to be changed by the Gospel.

That does not mean evil will have the final word.

Christ alone will judge at the proper time. Until then, He calls His people to remain faithful, to trust His perfect timing, and to continue living as citizens of His Kingdom in a world where wheat and weeds still grow together.
