This Sunday, we will be celebrating All Saints Sunday. Martin Luther was fond of saying that Christians are simultaneously saints and sinners, which means they are both righteous and sinful at the same time. I think I experienced a glimpse of both feelings once when I was greeting people after services one Sunday. A kind woman approached me and said, “Pastor, that was a very good sermon. Thank you.”
Appreciative, but trying to practice humility, I said, “Oh, I have to give credit to the Holy Spirit.”
She responded, “Oh, it wasn’t that good.”
Christians achieve sainthood only because of God’s grace, received through faith. Jesus covers our sins and makes us righteous before God. At the same time, we also remain sinners because of our ongoing struggle with sin and flawed actions in this life.
Join us on Sunday as we talk about saints, sinners, and we honor the communion of saints who have gone before us.
Worship services are at 8:30 & 10:00 AM. Live Streaming available at 10:00 AM.
