This weekend we celebrate the 4th of July—a weekend filled with reminders of freedom and independence, and the sacrifices of those who gave so that future generations could experience the liberty we have today.
But Scripture reminds us of something even more important than national freedom: that there is one area of life where independence is not the answer…Our relationship with God.
Because when it comes to sin, we do not need more independence. We do not need to simply try harder, become better, or figure out how to save ourselves. We need rescue.
This Sunday we will look at one of the most honest passages in Scripture as the apostle Paul describes the struggle that exists within the Christian life. In Romans 7, Paul acknowledges the tension between who God has made us to be and the sin that still clings to us. The verdict? The struggle is real.
Even as believers, we can find ourselves doing the very things we do not want to do. We experience the frustration of knowing what is right, yet still falling short. And Paul reminds us that sin is not merely a collection of bad choices—it is a power we cannot defeat on our own.
So the question is not , “How do I fix myself?” but rather, “Who will rescue me?”
The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus is the answer. He is:
· The Savior who meets us in our struggles.
· The Savior who is greater than our sin.
· The Savior who rescues us when we cannot save ourselves. Summer Sunday Services are at 9am each week! Live Streaming available.
