There’s a story told among gem dealers about a man strolling through the aisles when he noticed a dusty dull blue-violet stone the size and shape of a small potato. He looked it over, then, as calmly as possible, asked the vendor, “You want $15 for this?” The seller, unimpressed with its appearance, dropped the price to $10. Later, the dusty, dull stone turned out to be a massive natural star sapphire, worth millions.
It takes an expert lover of stones to recognize a hidden precious gem. And it takes the Lover of Souls to see the true worth in ordinary people like you and me. Jesus was the “stone the builders rejected,” yet he became the cornerstone. As Isaiah says, “He was despised and rejected and we esteemed him not.”
It doesn’t take long to see that our world—and our lives—are frail and marked by brokenness. It’s everywhere. But God does not overlook what is broken. He sees precious gems and redeems what is broken. Nowhere is that truth more powerfully revealed than in the resurrection of His Son, Jesus.
Join us this Easter as we celebrate that hope together. Easter Sunrise service begins at 7:15 am, with additional services at 8:30 and 10am. Live Streaming available at 10am.
