I stumbled across a baby book with a few twists that might be given to young parents. It’s meant to be a bit of a parody on what to expect when navigating raising children, but also has colorful pictures that could be read to an infant. “This is a house. It’s a lot like the one we had to remortgage to pay for your daycare.” And, “This is an owl. Like you, it thinks day is night and night is day.” But the book also ends sweetly: “These are mountains. They are what we would move to keep you happy and healthy.” Somehow, I think parents can relate.
Advent is a season filled with expectations — joyful ones, overwhelming ones, and sometimes the surprising kind that change our lives.
This Sunday, we’ll hear the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah and their preparation for the birth of their son, John the Baptist, the forerunner and cousin of Jesus — and what their story might teach us about what we should expect from God.
Join us this Sunday at worship. Services are at 8:30 & 10:00 AM. Live Streaming available at 10:00 AM.
