50-some years ago, my dad sold some stock to take our family on vacation. He had two to choose from. One was Control Data Corporation, the company where he worked. The other was McDonald’s. He kept the one he knew—and sold the McDonald’s stock. Control Data eventually fizzled and died. McDonald’s exploded. That small decision not only eliminated the golden arches, it also missed out on a golden opportunity.
We’ve all experienced regret over missed opportunities in life. Sometimes it’s years before we realize what we passed up. This Sunday, Jesus tells a story about how we can miss out—not just on a business deal—but on the greatest opportunity of all: life with Him.
