Years ago, Peter Falk played in the TV show Columbo. Even though he had a glass eye from a young age, he was still a really good athlete in his younger years. One time in a basketball game when the ref made a horrible call, Falk stopped, walked over to the ref, pulled out his glass eye, handed it to him, and said, “Here, you need this more than I do.”
Most of us want justice, but we also live in a world that is filled with injustice. On the one hand, injustice is inevitable. On the other hand, maybe there are ways to eliminate or reduce injustice. It is indeed a good thing to be a ‘Good Samaritan’ and help those in need. It is even better to work to rid dangerous roads of bandits altogether. Join us in this our third essential of our faith.
