Palm Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday, a time when Jesus arrives in Jerusalem on a colt, with less than a week to live.  It’s Holy Week, a time when Jesus will reveal more about himself as the long-awaited Messiah and the drama reaches full tilt.

A colt is simply a young donkey.  Even today, most people don’t yearn to ride on a donkey.  We’d much prefer a horse.  Donkeys, especially young colts, were used by kings when they desired to enter a city as a sign of peace.  A horse or stallion was used by a king when they desired to enter the city as a victorious military conqueror.

500 years earlier, the Prophet Zechariah prophesied about a king coming into a city riding on a colt.  Jesus’ coming fulfilled that prophecy amid many faces in the crowd.  Join us this Sunday, as we experience the true king of peace, and what His coming means for you.
