FaithPoint Story

The Beginnings

FaithPoint Lutheran Church (then known as New Prague Lutheran Church) held its first service on October 9, 2011. The Core Group members were the founders of FaithPoint Lutheran Church. They were an integral part of the early prayer and planning that shaped the new church. Their role is important in that they are the core spiritual support and prayer warriors for the new church, as well as being the primary liaisons for communication from the Pastor and launch team to the congregation and vice versa. They are also leaders on the teams on which they serve.

Members of the Core Group are: Vicki Anderson, Naomi Besser, Bob Cox, Becky Cox, Kamy Carlson, Steve Fjelstad, Jackie Frolund, Curt Guerrette, Kristin Guerrette, Chris Havlicek, Mike Jindra, Julie Jindra, Rob Luckow, Rachel Luckow, John Mayer, Marla Mayer, Terry McCullough, Denis Otterness, Trisha Otterness, Kristin Otterness, Ben Scheffler, Anne Scheffler, Jody Sivula, Pete Sletten, Shelly Tietz, Ryan Uttech, Betsy Uttech, Julie Bowers-Wegner.

The purpose of a launch team is to be the hands and feet for our Pastor, helping to set and carry out direction for our new church. This leadership team is anticipated to be in place throughout the first season of the church (approximately one year) and we humbly ask for your prayers and support as we commit to doing our best in this role. Launch team members are (listed with the team each is leading):

  • Pastor Steve Trewartha (Launch Team Leader)
  • Dwayne Anderson (Invite Team)
  • Mark Besser (Technology Team)
  • Brad Carlson (Financial & Stewardship Team)
  • Gretchen Havlicek (Prayer Team)
  • Katy Fjelstad (Worship Team)
  • Ann Sletten (Communications & Administration Team)
  • Rod Tietz

Support From Fellow Congregations

Hosanna Lutheran Church (Lakeville) and Northgate Church (Ramsey) have graciously offered to walk beside us on this journey, to help advise, coach and support us especially during these early months. Pastors Tim Hatt (Hosanna) and Steve Perkins (Northgate) are available to us for counsel and guidance, and their congregations are keeping FaithPoint covered in prayer. We are very grateful to them and we pray we can do the same for another start-up church in the future.
